The Monday After

This will always be the Monday after.

The Monday after unspeakable acts were committed against innocent lives.  The Monday after twenty sweet lives were senselessly ended, along with six brave heroes charged with teaching them, and keeping them safe, no matter the circumstances.  This will always be the Monday after we struggled, collectively as a nation, to come to some minuscule amount of understanding as to why someone would do this.  This will always be the Monday after a weekend spent glued to news coverage, only to later turn it off for a moment's reflection.  This will always be the Monday after during which moms across our country, and perhaps the world, struggled with the everyday task of sending their precious children to school.  This will be always be the Monday after countless tears were shed by people from every walk of life.  Tears of sadness, compassion, frustration and sympathy.

There is a great debate brewing over gun control and mental healthcare.  I can't even begin to go there yet.  For me, it feels too soon to debate these issues.  I still need to simply remember those I never knew, those who have now become a part of our collective family.

Our immediate reaction is to gather our loved ones closer, hug them more often, utter more "I love you's."  And I plan to do just that.

With love and prayers for the friends and families of Sandy Hook Elementary School, the Town of Newtown, and for all of mankind,

Presidential Weddings

To wrap up this week of politics and elections, I thought it would be fun to see photos of Presidents and their wives, past and present.  I love looking at old wedding photos, and I'm particularly drawn to those of the WWII era - so romantic!

President Barack Obama and Mrs. Michelle Obama
President George Bush and Mrs. Laura Bush

President Bill Clinton and Mrs. Hillary Clinton

President George Bush and Mrs. Barbara Bush
President Ronald Reagan and Mrs. Nancy Reagan
President Jimmy Carter and Mrs. Rosalyn Carter
President Gerald Ford and Mrs. Betty Ford
President Richard Nixon and Mrs. Patricia Nixon
(this is actually their shower - unable to find actual wedding photos)
President Lyndon Baines Johnson and Mrs. Lady Bird Johnson
President John F. Kennedy and Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy
Have a great weekend!

Amber and Andrew's wedding video!

I'm so excited to share this video from Amber and Andrew's Ojai Valley Inn and Spa Wedding.  They were among some of the funniest, kind, and warm people I've ever worked with, and their wedding was Ah.Maze.Ing.  Just watch to see for yourself!

Big, Gigantic, HUGE thanks to Kim Fox Photography for the still photography, and Perfect Fit Studios for the Video.  You both ROCK!

Feeling a little Mad(Men)-ish this afternoon...

Confession: I've only watched a few episodes of "Mad Men." There. I've said it. It's on my Netflix list, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. However, I'm "mad" about the wardrobe and styling, and love seeing designers incorporate this style into their collections.

Happy Friday!  Here's to getting around to a few more episodes this weekend! Enjoy!

Tuesday....it's all about the Shoes

Sunday = Funday.  And then there's manic Monday.  Tuesday...well, Shoes-day, of course!

For years I was all about silver...silvery jewelry, silver accessories, silver touches in my home, but I've turned  a proverbial corner and now it's all about the gold.  So, what better way to kick-off Tuesday Shoes-day with these golden lovelies....behold....

Wouldn't it feel decadent to float down the aisle in these beauties on your wedding day?  I'd wear them with a simple chiffon halter gown and an armful of golden bangles.

Happy Shoes-day!

At last!  Some of my own wedding photos (wonderfully curated by our amazing photographer, Raya Carlisle).  I don't even know how many times I've watched this little slide show - the memories of what a fun day this was come flooding back each time.  Enjoy!

Wedding Dress Wednesday - Grand Entrances and Exits

When shopping for your wedding dress, of course you should look for a dress that will frame you beautifully as you make your grand entrance toward the altar, but what about once you get there?  As I was looking through my Dreamy Dresses board on Pinterest, I noticed that almost every dress I pin is beautifully adorned, many of them with spectacular back details, and thought I would share some of the dreaminess.   What dress details most often catch your eye?
Yes, I know this is a front shot, but (1) what a GRAND entrance this would make (and I just KNOW is has an amazing back), and (2) it's Elie Saab, and I can never get enough of his stunning creations.
Happy Wednesday!

Favorite Dress Designers...Carol Hannah

I literally swooned when I first saw Carol-Hannah's Spring 2013 collection.  I loved Carol-Hannah during her run on Project Runway, and I'm still a big fan today.  Just a few favorites from the collection....

the word "ethereal" comes to mind.
